DJJ reports 338 employees on telework agreements; 1,177 positions ineligible due to residential duties

The Department of Juvenile Justice told the House Budget Review Subcommittee that telework is in place for many administrative and community staff but is not available for employees assigned to 24/7 residential facilities.

Commissioner Randy White said DJJ has 338 employees with telework agreements; these are largely central‑office staff and community workers who need remote access to casework, scheduling and clerical systems. He said about 1,177 employees are not eligible for telecommuting because they work in residential facilities, day treatment or transportation and must be on site to meet shift and supervision requirements.

White described the department's telework arrangements as governed by executive branch personnel cabinet policy and said the department provides laptops, cell phones and network access. He said Information Technology services (CLT) supplies security features and encryption for remote devices and that the department has not experienced security breaches related to telework. "We have 338 employees that have telework agreements," White said.
