Columbia planning commission asks council to fund professional printing of plan executive summary

Chairperson Wickermeister asked for the motion and commissioners approved it by voice vote.
The commission's chair framed the request as a one-time printing of an executive summary of the plan, saying, "So what I am looking for tonight is a motion to make a recommendation to counsel to seek professional services for printing the executive summary for Columbia 20 4." The chair described the summary as something to hand to prospective developers and other outside audiences and said the commission could not produce the finished, printed product in-house.
Commissioners discussed distribution and cost estimates but did not specify a copy count. A commission member asked whether the summary would be distributed annually; another member replied, "No. This is something that would go out once because it's a summary of that plan." Commissioners suggested placing some copies in the borough lobby and the library and including the summary in packets for visitors.
The commission recorded that funds for printing must be allocated by the full borough council; the commission itself approved only the recommendation to request professional services and funding through council.
