"I think in this instance, a full PSI might be called for...he's got PTSD from two trips, combat in Afghanistan, one in Iraq," defense counsel said, asking the court to consider veteran-specific supervision options. The court ordered a full PSI, a TAP evaluation in custody, and a referral to the Veterans Treatment Court (BTC) to determine eligibility for specialized supervision.
The judge emphasized the court would make a decision based on the PSI and other evidence and noted that probation was not assured. The court scheduled a follow-up hearing on April 8 and directed corrections and probation staff to complete the ordered evaluations and report back. The court further directed that custody staff produce the defendant for interviews required by the PSI process and for the TAP evaluation.
