Planning Commission elects new chair, vice chair and committee representatives

The Santa Maria Planning Commission unanimously elected Commissioner Robert Dickerson as chair and Commissioner Blanco as vice chair during its regular meeting. Commissioners also appointed members to the subdivision committee and the downtown revitalization committee.
The votes followed nominations from commissioners and voice/roll-call confirmations. Chair Seifert nominated Dickerson for chair; the motion was seconded and passed on a roll call in which each commissioner voted aye. Commissioner Blanco was nominated and confirmed as vice chair, and additional nominations filled the subdivision committee and downtown revitalization committee slots.
The nominations and roll calls were procedural and carried without recorded opposition. The commission approved the minutes of the previous meeting by voice vote earlier in the session before the officer elections.
The newly elected chair and vice chair will serve for the current calendar year; the commission moved immediately from the officer election into the evening's substantive agenda items.
