Abdu said the developer has offered $1.3 million in community benefits and argued that "for a project of this magnitude, Hayward should be seeking either $10 or $20 million in one‑time benefits or annual contributions of $1.3 million." He asked the council to press for a larger community benefit package that accounts for grid impacts and air quality.
The remarks were made during the public‑comment period; no council action on the Eden Landing project was reported at the Jan. 21 meeting.
