Harrison County Board recognizes Lincoln High senior as National Merit finalist

The Harrison County Board of Education on Feb. 18 presented a certificate of merit to Ashton Fulton, a Lincoln High School student, recognizing him as a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program.
The certificate noted Fulton’s advancement to finalist standing and the board said he also was named a National Honor Scholarship winner. Board members introduced at the presentation included Board President Frank Duvano and Vice President Mary Frances Smith.
Board members and the presenter praised Fulton’s academic accomplishment and invited him forward for a photograph. The presenter said, “This year for Harrison County. So we’re really excited that you’re here.” Fulton told the board he has applied to colleges and currently plans to attend West Virginia University to study biology and premed.
The recognition was ceremonial; no board action or vote was recorded for this item.
The board gave Fulton a certificate dated Feb. 18, 2025, and posed for a group photo following brief remarks.
