FQHCs ask Vermont for $5 million to raise Medicaid visit rates

Mary Kate Mollman, director of Vermont Public Policy at Bi-State Primary Care Association, told the House Human Services Committee that the association is requesting a $5,000,000 state appropriation to bring Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) Medicaid rates closer to the cost of providing care to Medicaid enrollees.
Mollman said FQHCs provide care to about one in three Vermonters and to roughly 36 percent of the state’s Medicaid enrollees. The state’s 11 health centers have sites in every county and often are the sole primary-care provider in their communities, she said.
