Representatives of the Batavia Special Education Parent Network (BSPN, also referred to as ESPN in remarks) told the board on Feb. 18 that their annual resource fair will be held Thursday, Feb. 20 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Batavia High School cafeteria.
What organizers said Leanne Rodriguez (speech pathologist) and parent volunteer Ashley Murtaugh described the network’s work connecting families of students with special education needs. They said the fair has grown from about 13 vendors in 2014 to more than 55 this year, with exhibitors spanning recreational programs, therapy providers and community supports; the Batavia Fire and Police departments are also scheduled to attend.
Who should attend and how to get information Organizers said the fair is open to Batavia Public School families and to families from neighboring districts; children are welcome. BSPN provides a website (bspn-batavia.org) and a Facebook page for updates, and organizers encouraged board members and staff to stop by the event.
Ending Board members praised the event as a large regional resource and thanked volunteers and staff who support the fair. Organizers noted the event is volunteer-run and encouraged attendance.
