The Board of Public Works and Safety opened bids Tuesday for the Ninth Street Path construction project between Westville Boulevard and Haverstick Road and directed the engineering department to evaluate the submissions and recommend an award at a future meeting.
Brad Peace, Director of Engineering, introduced the bid opening. Chris Logue of the engineering department read the bids aloud and said staff would "open the bids, and then what we'll do is take them back and make a recommendation for the next PPW meeting." Bidders and amounts included Calumet Civil Contractors Inc. ($575,000), All Star Paving Inc. (approximately $600,688.05 recorded in the bid read), E and B Paving LLC (approximately $600,890.43), Morphy Construction (approximately $607,000), Alco Inc. (approximately $608,880.42 as read), Yarberry Companies Inc. (approximately $820,420.72), and Reath Riley Construction (approximately $880,600.81).
Logue said staff would return with a recommendation; no award was made at the session. The board treated the item as a procedural bid opening and will act on award after engineering's review.
The project was listed on the agenda as 22-ENG-0590, Ninth Street Path Construction. Staff did not discuss schedule changes, low bidder determinations, or funding sources during the public bid opening.
