Senate introduces and refers more than a dozen bills to committees; sponsors added on several measures
Summary
During the Feb. 19 floor session the Nevada Senate introduced multiple bills on voter registration, public programs, health care, local surcharges, pharmacy benefit managers, and others; each bill was formally referred to a committee and several sponsorship additions were recorded.
The Nevada Senate on Wednesday introduced a slate of bills and referred each to its assigned committee, with no recorded objections during the floor referrals.
The measures introduced included Senate Bill 205, addressing revisions to the statewide voter registration list; SB 206 on state program efficacy; SB 207 to establish an all-inclusive care program for the elderly; SB 208 revising certain county surcharges; SB 209 concerning pharmacy benefit managers; SB 210 relating to fees collected by constables and sheriffs; SB 211 on collective bargaining for certain state employees; SB 212 making an appropriation to City of Hope to establish an outpatient cancer treatment clinic; SB 213 revising unlawful dissemination of an intimate image; SB 214 revising provisions related to excavations; and SB 215 revising provisions related to wildlife.
Each bill was moved to the committee noted by the introducing senator and referred without recorded objections. Examples from the floor:
- Senator Titus moved to refer SB 205 to the Committee on Legislative Operations and Elections. The motion was ordered without objection.
- Senator Taylor moved to refer SB 207 to the Committee on Health and Human Services. The referral was ordered without objection.
- Senator Stone moved to refer SB 209 to the Committee on Commerce and Labor and to refer SB 210, SB 211 and SB 212 to their respective committees as announced on the floor. Those referrals were ordered without objection.
In an administrative action before introductions, the Senate recorded a series of sponsorship additions: Senator Krasner approved adding Senator Stone as a primary sponsor on Senate Joint Resolution 1, Senate Bill 95 and Senate Bill 103; Senators Steinbeck and Stone were added as sponsors of Senate Bill 110; and Senator Stone approved adding Senator Krasner as a sponsor on Senate Bill 148.
All of the referred bills were placed with the appropriate committees for further consideration; the referrals themselves do not represent committee action or passage of any bill.
