Students submit more than 50 designs for Peck Phoenix logo; winning design to be revealed to students first

The committee received an update on a student logo competition for the new Peck school. Erin reported that more than 50 students from the future Peck feeder pattern submitted designs; eligible participants included sixth‑ and seventh‑grade students at STEM and Metcalf and fourth‑ and fifth‑grade students at Donahue, Morgan and Lawrence.
The panel narrowed the entries to six finalists and ran a survey among students and staff at STEM, Metcalf and the feeder elementary schools. Erin said the committee selected a winner at 4:00 p.m. the day of the meeting but will reveal the choice to the winning student and participating students before a broader public release. The winning student will collaborate with a graphic artist to professionalize the mark for use on shirts, water bottles and other materials.
Erin said evaluation criteria included representation from all feeder schools, relevance to the Peck Phoenix theme and school colors (red and black), and visual clarity and versatility. The committee discussed recognizing all finalists with certificates and inviting them to a future ribbon opening or tour.
Committee members praised the number and quality of entries and the inclusive selection process.
