Ballard County Fiscal Court on Feb. 18 approved its monthly bills and contract additions, authorized a small flooring/office renovation quote, and agreed to continue consideration of a proposed donation of a one-acre parcel until a title and environmental review are complete.
Finance staff included additional invoices in the packets for annex lighting upgrades and jail medical costs; the court voted to approve the bills as presented. Court members also discussed and approved a roughly $1,000 quote to repair or replace flooring in a former county office space that the Administrative Office of the Courts had expressed interest in renting. The court approved the $1,000 quote to proceed with minor updates while AOC reviews its rental decision.
Separately, the court addressed an offer to donate about one acre of property on Beach Railroad to the county for placement of a modular home. Members said the parcel had burned in the past and that state health records indicated a mandatory closure in 2010; the court agreed to continue the donation item until staff completes a title search and an environmental/health review to identify any residual hazards. Members discussed an approach to advertise the property and set a 24-month build requirement if the county clears the property for transfer to a new owner.
Court members asked staff to return with the title search, any records from the state health department or EPA databases, and proposed terms for a potential property lottery or conditional transfer.
