Ballard County Fiscal Court voted Feb. 18 to authorize the PAD office to apply on the county's behalf for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) housing program that would fund scattered-site housing rehabilitation.
Court members said the CDBG application is for roughly $1.2 million in federal/state housing dollars and that Ballard County would need to approve a local match equal to 10 percent of the grant request, about $120,000, if awarded. Staff said the PAD office had re-submitted a previously framed application and conducted door-to-door eligibility interviews with applicants; they reported strong local interest with more than 20 households applying.
The PAD office's grant writer prepared the submission and the fiscal court authorized the local resolution needed for application. Court members voted to approve the application; staff said they would administer the program if awarded and that the match and applicant prioritization details would be available once the award is finalized.
The court also requested that staff provide full documentation and a resolution to the county attorney for review before any binding commitment is made.
