Grosse Ile open-space committee reviews FY25–26 maintenance budget, trail work and 'dump the junk' costs

The Grosse Ile Township Open Space Committee reviewed a draft maintenance budget for fiscal 2025–26 and discussed near-term priorities including trail maintenance, two newly constructed parking areas and the continuing costs of the committee's twice-yearly "dump the junk" events.

Committee members said the Ferry Gauge parking area off Ferry Road is complete and in active use. The group discussed carrying forward and adjusting line items for tree cutting and removal, trail maintenance and new signs as part of the proposed FY25–26 spending plan.

The committee chair presented the maintenance fund worksheet used by township finance and said the fund balance at the start of the most recent fiscal year (April 2024) was $162,585.74 and that the account balance had declined by January 2025.
