The Grosse Ile Community Recreation Commission voted on officer confirmations, member reinstatements and its 2025–26 meeting calendar during its Feb. 6 meeting in the township boardroom.
The commission approved Chad Novak as chair for a one‑year term after a motion from Jamieson and a second from Wendy Kearney; commissioners Keith, Marissa, Stacy, Eileen Mystalix and Jamieson recorded “yes” votes during the roll call. The motion carried.
The commission also voted to reinstate Kevin Naso to a three‑year term as a commission member; the motion passed unanimously. Later in the meeting commissioners voted to reinstate Wendy Kearney as commission secretary—meeting minutes record both a three‑year reinstatement vote and a separate motion that carried to confirm a one‑year officer term. Commissioners discussed the distinction between member terms and officer terms during that exchange and noted officers are elected annually under the commission bylaws.
The commission approved its 2025 meeting dates and times in a single motion. All meetings were scheduled for 6 p.m. in the Township Boardroom with the following 2025 dates: April 3; May 1; June 5; July 3; Aug. 7; Sept. 4; Oct. 2; Nov. 6; and Dec. 4. For fiscal year 2026 the commission recorded meetings for Feb. 5 and March 5; the January meeting was not scheduled because it would have fallen on New Year’s Day.
Other formal actions approved by voice or roll call that evening included acceptance of the minutes from the Jan. 2 meeting and approval of an amended agenda that added a new member name (Eileen Mystalix) prior to voting on appointments.
The votes were recorded on the meeting record; commissioners clarified procedural points during the actions, including that officers are elected annually while commission member appointments are made to multi‑year terms.
