Staff acknowledged that some incidents fall in “nether regions” where jurisdictional lines overlap and said they are working to clarify the response process.
Why it matters: A constituent complaint about a park incident prompted concerns about unclear departmental responsibilities. Committee members asked for assurance the municipality has a repeatable process and for faster, clearer responses to constituents.
Parks staff also updated the committee on progress installing high‑speed Internet across recreation centers. The department said the multi‑year project—delayed by COVID and supply‑chain issues—has reached substantial completion and that public high‑speed connections are now available in rec centers including Beach Lake Chalet and Eagle River. Parks staff said they will coordinate modest local ribbon‑cutting events to highlight connectivity improvements.
A member asked about Chuck Albrecht fields and safety concerns raised by a constituent; Parks staff said they will follow up with the member to get more detail and report back on any planned turf or safety improvements.
