Commissioners approve on-call architectural and engineering consultant roster; consent agenda passed

The Thurston County Board of Commissioners voted Feb. 18, 2025, to approve a roster of on-call architectural, engineering and professional consulting contracts to support county facility planning, design and construction.
Central Services staff recommended placing the top-ranked firms under two-year on-call agreements, with each contract set at a not-to-exceed amount of $500,000; contracts include the option for three one-year extensions and a 10% contingency for amendments. Rick Thomas, central services capital projects planning manager, told the board the process created a qualified roster to speed procurement of task-specific work and to align county practice with Public Works procedures.
"Work will be defined on individual task orders with cost for services being negotiated based on pre-established rates," Thomas said. The list of firms the board authorized includes BCRA; Hargis Engineering Inc.; Helix Design Group (a division of Shive-Hattery); Holtz BHU Engineers Inc.; Miller Haller Partnership LLP; Osborne Architects Incorporated PS; Thomas Architecture Studios Inc.; Tress West Engineers Inc.; and Wood Harbinger Inc.
The board also approved the consent agenda (items A through U) by unanimous voice vote.
