The Youngsville City Council on Feb. 13 appointed Maria Petrie to serve as magistrate judge for Youngsville City Court.
Mayor Boulay recommended Petrie, describing her as a licensed attorney with experience in title examination, curative work and closing documents and as an active community member and 25‑year resident. Maria Petrie was present at the meeting and answered no substantive questions; councilmember Champine moved appointment and Mr. Bolgiano seconded. The council voted to approve the appointment; staff said Petrie will be sworn in before the next court session.
Petrie’s primary practice, the mayor said, centers on title work for residential and commercial property across multiple parishes, but the mayor noted she has experience in other areas of law as well and affirmed confidence in her readiness to serve as magistrate.
