Staff described HydroCorp as the city’s current, sole-source provider for the program and said the vendor has worked with the city for years. The resolution on the agenda would have authorized a two-year extension not to exceed $152,784, paid from Water Cross-connection account 592920928000. During discussion a council member said the cost appears higher than last year and asked staff to confirm payables. The sponsor withdrew support and asked that the item be pulled from the agenda so staff could compile prior payables and cost history; council agreed to table the matter for a future meeting.
Council members clarified that much of the residential cross-connection work is seasonal (exterior hose-bib work) and that contractors often wait for warmer weather to begin installations; staff confirmed the program timeline and agreed to return with the requested documentation.
