Midland approves $1 million grant and purchase orders for Poseyville Riverfront restoration

The Midland City Council on Feb. 10 unanimously approved a budget amendment to accept a $1,000,000 grant from the Tittabawassee River Natural Resource Damage Assessment and Restoration program and authorized $550,000 in purchase orders to Fisher Contracting and $450,000 to the Chippewa Nature Center for final grading and naturalization work at the Poseyville Riverfront restoration site.
The grant funds will be used for final grading, placement of topsoil at varying depths and phased planting of native canopy trees, conifers, shrubs, grasses and wildflowers across the 19-acre site the city identifies as the Cozyville Preserve.
