District presents Cognia perception survey results; external review set for March

District leaders gave an overview of perception surveys administered as part of the Cognia continuous improvement process and previewed system‑level themes ahead of an external review scheduled for March.
Staff reported the district administered 17 survey instruments and cited approximate participation counts of 334 households (parents), 1,386 students and 158 staff across instruments. Student participation for administered surveys was reported at over 95% because surveys were given on-site; staff participation was also above 95%. Household/parent response by household was estimated at roughly 28–29 percent.
The systems summary described strengths — including staff commitment, available resources and a mission focused on student success — and recurring opportunities, especially timely stakeholder communication and shared decision making on student progress. The presentation emphasized that perception data will be combined with student achievement and standards evaluation to drive prioritized improvement work.
Staff said building‑level reports will follow and that the district plans to share survey findings publicly with families the week of Feb. 21; the external reviewers will deliver a separate report expected by mid‑ to late April.
Board members asked about participation rates and clarity on how parent responses were counted; staff explained parental responses were tallied by household and that parents were instructed to complete the survey for their oldest child in each building.
