Livermore Valley Arts reports record year, previews Lunar New Year and Juneteenth events

Representatives of Livermore Valley Arts told the City Council on Jan. 13 that the organization recorded its most productive fiscal year since the Bankhead Theater opened and previewed three upcoming cultural celebrations.
‘‘Over 88,000 people joined us through various programs, including our Bankhead Present series, resident company performances, rentals, free community events, art camps, classes, workshops, and the UnaCredit Union Art Gallery,’’ said Mark Sean, chief financial officer for Livermore Valley Arts, speaking at the council’s open forum. He said the attendance total represented a 22% increase from the prior year and that earned revenue was $2,200,000, comprising 60% of total revenue. The organization reported an operating reserve of $1,200,000.
Sean thanked the council for ongoing support and said the organization updated its mission and vision to emphasize enrichment, inspiration and community engagement. Arthur Brinkett, a cultural events organizer, told council members the Bankhead Plaza will host a Lunar New Year celebration Feb. 2, an Asian American‑Native Hawaiian‑Pacific Islander night market on May 2, and a Juneteenth event on June 21.
Council members praised the organization’s attendance and community partnerships during brief remarks.
No formal council action was required; the presentation occurred during open forum and public comment.
