The Livermore City Council on Jan. 13 approved renaming a roughly one‑mile private portion of East Vallecito Road to East Vineyard Avenue to improve addressing and emergency response for four affected properties.
Jennifer Ackerman, associate planner in the Community Development Department, told the council the planning commission reviewed the proposal on Nov. 19 and recommended approval. ‘‘Residents have noted that emergency and routine delivery services have difficulty finding these homes along this road. The proposed change will help improve this situation,’’ Ackerman said.
Ackerman said the private road will remain privately maintained after the renaming and that two nearby properties already carry East Vineyard addresses under Alameda County jurisdiction. Staff recommended the council find the project exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act, adopt a resolution approving the name change, and instruct the planning manager to file a notice of exemption with the county.
Council member Dunbar moved approval of the staff recommendation; Vice Mayor Branning seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
The council received no written opposition and no public comments on the item during the hearing.
