Votes at a glance: Des Moines County Board approves claims, SRO agreement, appointments and personnel actions

The Des Moines County Board of Supervisors approved several routine financial, personnel and appointment items at its Feb. 18 meeting.

The board approved accounts payable claims totaling $781,345.04 and a payroll reimbursement claim of $170.38. Supervisors also approved the appointment of Justin Myers to a four‑year term as Washington Township trustee; the meeting record lists the term length as four years but the start/end dates in the minutes were not specified.

The board approved an agreement with Danville Community Schools to continue a school resource officer (SRO) program. The agreement as read into the record set a total amount of $79,934 and listed a first installment of $39,967; county staff noted the school asked that the chairperson’s name be updated on the signature line. Deputies and school officials had previously reviewed the arrangement and the board voted to move forward.

Supervisors also approved a resolution canceling three long‑outstanding auditor’s checks totaling $1,174.94 and accepted multiple personnel actions, including step increases and a retirement. The minutes from the Feb. 11 meeting and reports on file for January fees were approved.

Votes recorded on motion items were unanimous where called: Sarah Doty, Tom Broger, Shane McCampbell and Jim Carrey voted yes on the items recorded in the minutes. Several motions were seconded on the record by Sarah Doty or by other supervisors as noted in the minutes.
