Beadle School reports record food-drive haul; district recognizes retirees and a teacher award

YANKTON, S.D. — At the Jan. 27 meeting of the Yankton School District 63-3 Board of Education, Beadle School staff reported a record food-drive collection and the board recognized retiring educators and a teacher award.
Beadle School staff said the school’s annual Super Bowl food drive collected “over right around 4,100 items” for the community contact center. The drive included food and hygiene items; staff said many items the center previously bought were donated by the school.
“ We set a record with over right around 4,100 items collected for the contact center,” Judy, a Beadle School staff member, said during the report.
The superintendent and board also acknowledged a staff member who received a regional physical-science teacher award and recognized several retirees who together represent more than 200 years of teaching experience leaving the district this year. Board members and administrators spoke in thanks to the retirees and to staff involved in school and district events.
The Beadle update and retiree recognitions were presented as part of routine reports; no board action was required.
