Pataskala staff: 8% lease‑rate increase will apply to upcoming office renewals including Hoobler Financial

Chris, a city staff member, told the Pataskala City Buildings and Grounds Committee that the city increased per‑square‑foot lease rates in city hall by about 8% in 2024 and that the new rate will apply to upcoming lease renewals.
He said Hoobler Financial and Insurance Services, which occupies Office 1C at the front of the building, has a lease up for renewal and that the resolution authorizing that renewal will appear on the Pataskala City Council consent agenda that evening. Chris also identified additional leases set to expire this year, including ones for a lab, the health department and COTC; he said those renewals will carry the higher rate.
When a committee member asked whether the rate increase helps with the police facility note, Chris said it does: "It goes to pay the note off of that building," he said. Chris said the 8% increase was implemented in 2024 and the city has not instituted an annual automatic increase.
Committee members did not take a formal vote on any lease renewals during this meeting; Chris said staff will place lease resolutions on the regular council agenda in the future rather than calling a separate Buildings and Grounds meeting for each renewal.
Ending: Staff said some tenants may seek multi‑year renewals and that committee notification will continue through council agendas rather than special committee meetings.
