Upper Dublin board approves three personnel items, appoints interim Jarrettown principal

The Upper Dublin School District Board of School Directors approved three personnel items at a special legislative meeting Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025, in the Upper Dublin High School Cardinal Room in Fort Washington.

The board approved a personnel report, the appointment of an interim principal at Jarrettown Elementary School, and a settlement agreement (agenda items 6.01, 6.02 and 6.03) on a single motion. The motion was made by Mr. Wallach and seconded by Ms. Redding; the board approved the items by voice vote with no opposition stated.

Dr. Smith, a district staff member, introduced Dr. Ortiz and thanked him for stepping in on short notice as interim principal at Jarrettown Elementary School. "I'd like to thank him for stepping into the role as interim principal at Jarrett Town Elementary School, with pretty short notice, and appreciate his ability to do that. I've heard very positive feedback from our staff and our parents so far," Dr. Smith said.

During board remarks, Ms. Sherpier thanked long-serving teachers who are retiring. "I see the 2 retirements that are, after very long years of service. And, no, actually, 3. We have 2. And I just wanna say a big thank you and shout out to those teachers who've been with generations of students, for all their hard work and dedication to the district," she said.

There were no public participants at the meeting; the public-comment period was opened for agenda items only and closed after no one approached the microphone. Later, Mr. D'Azio (participating by phone) made a Sunshine Act announcement disclosing that on Feb. 5, 2025, executive sessions were held "to discuss matters of potential litigation related to personnel and zoning." The board adjourned shortly after the approved motion and disclosures.

The items approved on Feb. 13 take effect as recorded in district minutes; no additional implementation details or timelines were specified at the meeting.
