Bothell council approves community‑values resolution and backs state universal health‑care bills; consent agenda passes

The council approved a resolution reaffirming the city’s commitment to building a safe, welcoming and equitable community for all. Council member Carson Kurd moved the resolution and Council member Jenny Aldrichs seconded; the motion passed unanimously, 5–0 (Council members Manky and Mayor Mason Thompson were absent and excused).
The council also adopted a resolution supporting Universal Health Care for Washington State—requested by Council member Aldrichs and tied to state proposals referenced during the meeting. Council member Kurd moved that resolution; Council member Tammy Dodd seconded. The motion passed 4–1. Council member Zorns voted no; Council members Menke and Mayor Thompson were absent and excused.
Earlier in the meeting the council moved to approve the consent agenda. Council member Aldrichs made the motion; Council member Kurd seconded. The clerk recorded the vote as passing 5–0 with Council members Manky and Mayor Thompson absent and excused.
The meeting adjourned to a closed executive session under state law (RCW 42.30.110/140) for matters related to pending litigation, with no action expected at the session’s close.
