Lebanon Community School Corporation staff updated the school board Feb. 18 on plans to sell the district's existing transportation facility as part of the construction program for a new transportation building.
Mr. Dennis told the board the district received two appraisals; by district policy it must accept no less than the average of those appraisals, and that average is $339,000. He said the district adjusted its property lines to retain some parking for the buildings-and‑grounds operation and must replat a newly defined Lot 9A before sale. “We did receive our 2 appraisals… the average came back at $339,000,” Mr. Dennis said.
Because several of the affected lots are under a commercial minimum, the district must request a variance from the board of zoning appeals. Dennis said the district missed the March BZA deadline and planned to appear at the April meeting to ask for the variance. He also said state legal requirements for selling real property will require the district to run a public notice in the paper; he will ask the board's permission at a future meeting to place that advertisement, which will formally start the sale process.
Dennis told the board there was no action requested on Feb. 18; the update was informational. He said administrative steps — the replat and BZA variance — must be completed before the district can convey the property to a new owner.
Ending: Staff will return with the formal request to publish the required sale notice and with documentation on the replat and BZA variance schedule.
