DuPage committee renews long-standing public-works mutual-aid agreement, approves contracts and minutes

The approvals came on unanimous voice votes during the short meeting. Committee members also pressed staff to check past Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) discussions about jurisdictional zones with neighboring Cook County.
The committee approved a motion to close a contract with Fawcett Miller PC after a $20,000 reduction tied to the contract’s expiration. The committee then voted to receive and place on file items numbered 7a, 7b and 7c, which included the public-works mutual-aid agreement.
A committee member who identified themselves as serving on the Local Emergency Planning Committee asked whether the mutual-aid arrangement had been part of previous LEPC work and expressed surprise about being placed in a zone with Cook County. The member said, “Mister Shorzey and I are on a committee, pretty much a known committee called the Local Emergency Planning Committee, and that's something that this type of an agreement was something that we're working on for a number of years ago. And I didn't know if this came out of that committee or not, but I don't remember us being put into a zone with Cook County.”
Director Dieteman, responding for county staff, described the agreement as long established and administrative in nature. Dieteman said, “The IPW man agreement's been around for many, many years. It started in 02/2006,” and added, “This is just a renewal. It's a administrative item.” Dieteman also said staff would check LEPC minutes to clarify past discussions.
Committee members asked whether county crews would cooperate under the agreement; staff replied that county departments have provided resources and answered requests in the past.
Votes at a glance: the committee approved the Feb. 4, 2025 committee meeting minutes (motion carried); approved closing and reducing the Fawcett Miller PC contract by $20,000 due to contract expiration (motion carried); and voted to receive and place on file items 7a, 7b and 7c, including the public-works mutual-aid agreement (motion carried).
