DuPage County committee approves multiple facilities and public-works contracts

The DuPage County Facilities Management Committee on Feb. 25 approved multiple contract awards and bid renewals for public-works and facilities needs, including heavy equipment for the county’s waste-treatment operations and routine supplies for county facilities.
Committee members voted to award a contract to JX Truck Center (doing business as Peterbilt, Joliet) for a new cab to haul sludge and leachate at the Woodbridge Green Valley Waste Center treatment plant for a contract period of Feb. 25, 2025, through Nov. 30, 2025, not to exceed $173,876.99. The committee then approved multiple vehicle orders to National Auto Fleet Group for Facilities Management, including Ford Transit cargo vans and other fleet trucks with contract totals not to exceed $60,453.28, $44,132.46 and $39,934.14 respectively for the stated contract periods.
The committee also approved a multi-year purchase contract with Royal Pipe and Supply Company to furnish plumbing supplies (Feb. 25, 2025–Feb. 25, 2027) with an amount not to exceed $180,000 per line item; a contract with Peregrine Services for printing and mailing of sewer and water bills (Aug. 1, 2025–July 31, 2026) not to exceed $20,000 per qualified offer; and a contract with Petroleum Traders for off-road diesel to support the county power plant and standby generators (April 1, 2025–March 31, 2026) not to exceed $101,000 per term. The committee also approved a contract with Gehrke Technology Group to furnish water-treatment chemicals (March 23, 2025–March 22, 2026) not to exceed $60,000 per contract option, and a sole-source approval for Midwest Applied Solutions Inc. to supply tubing for an HVAC cleaning system (through Nov. 30, 2025) not to exceed $45,979.43.
Committee members asked where purchases would be charged. Nick (county staff) said the Peterbilt purchase and the vehicle orders are charged to the Public Works and Facilities Management budgets. “This is absolutely public works budget,” Nick said during the meeting. Committee discussion on individual items was brief and procedural; each contract motion was moved, seconded and approved with verbal unanimous voice votes recorded as “Aye” and no recorded opposing votes.
The committee also received an informational government-agreement notice: DTR 1-25, membership in the Illinois Public Works Mutual Aid Network, for $500, which the committee approved.

Context and next steps
Staff said the vehicle purchases had been planned in previous annual budgets and that some large vehicles (the cab/trailer used for hauling sludge/leachate) were budgeted years earlier. No member requested staff follow-up reports on the awarded contracts during the meeting. Contracts and purchase orders will proceed to procurement execution per county procedures.
