Dublin City to offer full-day kindergarten in 2025-26 school year

John Marshaussen, presenter of the district's "Dublin in the Know" program, announced that Dublin City (Regular School District) will offer all-day kindergarten beginning in the 2025-26 school year for children who are 5 years old by Sept. 30.

Marshaussen said the expansion is part of the district's levy promise from 2023 and is possible with the opening of Bishop Elementary, which he said provides space in all district buildings for five-year-olds to attend a full day. "We are excited to announce that for the 20 five-twenty 6 school year, we will be offering all day kindergarten in the Dublin City Schools. This is part of our levy promise from 2023. And with the opening of Bishop Elementary, we have space in all of our buildings to have those 5 year olds join us for a full day," he said.

Registration will take place online through the district website. Marshaussen said families can complete the entire process online and that, after submitting registration, "give our enrollment specialists a couple weeks and they'll get back to you to confirm your registration and give you information about what's next for you and your child." He said information nights for students and families will be held in May and that dates are posted on the district website.

On benefits, Marshaussen described academic and social advantages: "We know that all day kindergarten has tremendous academic benefits for our students in math and reading, but we also know the social benefits of those students spending the whole day together is immense."
