Codington County commissioners approved a $68,422.57 quote to replace culverts on County Road 91 (450 Eighth Avenue) just north of State Highway 20 at their Feb. 18 meeting.
Randy of the county highway department presented the single quote and said the work will replace undersized culverts, widen the road at the location and help runoff in the hilly area. “These culverts were a little narrow, so it kept the road narrow up. So we are gonna widen it,” Randy said.
Commissioner Gable moved to approve the quote; Commissioner Schwier seconded the motion. After brief discussion about runoff and road width at the location, the commission approved the expenditure on a voice vote. No roll-call vote tally was recorded in the public transcript.
Work is expected to proceed under the awarded quote and will be scheduled as part of the highway department's spring culvert program; staff did not provide a start date on the record.
Location and contractor details are recorded in the county packet; the commission authorized staff to proceed with the awarded quote.
