Oklahoma City — Trustees of the Oklahoma City Post Employment Benefits Trust adopted a resolution on Feb. 12 recognizing Laura A. Johnson for 45 years of city service and her upcoming retirement as assistant city manager on March 14, 2025.
The resolution notes Johnson joined the city in December 1979, served 45 years, was an original member of the trust when it was established on June 17, 2008, and as finance director contributed to the city’s AAA bond rating. Trustees read the resolution into the record and adopted it by unanimous vote.
Several trustees and staff offered personal remarks in Johnson’s honor. Johnson thanked trustees and staff and said she was proud of the work on the Post Employment Benefits Trust, adding that she was initially skeptical of prefunding but is “very proud of the work we've done here” and reassured attendees the trust will continue to support retirees’ health coverage in retirement. The transcript records her saying, “I appreciate you all. I appreciate your service to the city. I am very proud of the work that we've done here as the Post Employment Benefits Trust.”
Trustees and City Treasurer’s Office representatives congratulated Johnson and wished her well in retirement. The resolution passed unanimously and will be added to the trust’s records.
