Prairie Ridge athletes, cast and crew honored at CHSD 155 board meeting

Prairie Ridge High School students, coaches and directors were publicly recognized Tuesday night by the Crystal Lake High School District 155 Board of Education for recent state-level achievements in athletics and theater.
The district's director of communications, Shannon, opened the recognitions by announcing the Prairie Ridge boys' soccer team finished third in the IHSA Class 2A state tournament, beating LaMoille (Lamont in transcript) 1-0 in the consolation game. Coach Joe Schroeder called the season “an incredible year for this group,” and described the physical and emotional turnaround the team managed after their semifinal loss. Senior player Seth told the board the season “meant a lot” and described pregame huddles that kept the team together; fellow senior Henry Knoll said he had been on the team four years and was proud of the group’s perseverance.
The board also recognized Prairie Ridge girls volleyball, which finished third at the state tournament after beating DePaul Prep in the consolation match. Coach Hillary Agnello praised the team’s perseverance and leadership, and several players who are seniors addressed the board, thanking coaches and teammates for the season’s experience.
Prairie Ridge’s performing arts program received board recognition after the school’s production of 6 (the Musical) was invited to the Illinois High School Theater Festival. Theater director Dave Jensen said the production was accepted to perform at the Krannert Center and described the rapid volunteer-driven staging that made the invitation possible. Jensen said the company is deep into rehearsals for an upcoming production of Anastasia and invited the community to attend upcoming performances.
