Council authorizes design contract for new General Services administration building

Broken Arrow City Council approved a professional consultant agreement with CJC Architects for design of a new General Services administration building to be located at the city’s Fleet/Purchasing/Solid Waste campus at 1700 West Detroit.
Shannon Marshall, the city’s special projects division manager, told council the new building — roughly the size of the veterans center — would relocate administration offices to the site where field crews and large vehicles operate. Marshall said the change is intended to improve public access and site safety by providing a dedicated front office and to consolidate administration with the operations teams.
“This would be a new building, there located to help control site access and be that opportunity,” Marshall said. She described the project as a deviation from the 2023 master plan but called it a “betterment” that brings administrative staff on‑site with field crews.
Council supported the concept and approved the professional services agreement; staff said subsequent steps include engineering, site planning and potential reassignment of other departmental office space once the new building is in place.
