Operations committee approves a series of city contracts and minor works, all motions pass

The Tuscaloosa City Operations Committee on an undisclosed meeting date approved a set of professional services and minor public-works contracts, with committee members voting “aye” on each motion.

Committee members approved a professional services agreement with Jacobs Engineering Group for operational-technology maintenance and support at the Ed Love water treatment plant, not to exceed $96,500. Brian Gurney, a city staff presenter, described the work as monitoring and maintaining the plant’s SCADA and control systems, reviewing alerts and logs, producing monthly deliverables and providing as-needed updates and user-interface modifications. Funding was identified as coming from the city’s outside services operational account.

The committee approved a minor public-works contract with Suncoast Infrastructure to clean and video-inspect a 24-inch sewer main in the vicinity of Nucor Steel, for a contract total recorded in the meeting as $414,300. Staff said the…
