Committee approves RFQ for employment law services and selects two volunteers for interview panel

The Marshfield Finance, Budget and Personnel Committee voted to recommend that the common council approve a request for qualifications (RFQ) seeking employment law services.
Human Resources Director Sarah Dressel summarized the city’s prior RFQ process, saying the council approved an RFQ in 2022 that led to Stafford Rosenbaum being selected after Von Briesen and Roper previously provided employment-law services. “Staff would like to, again, complete an RFQ for legal services to review qualifications and compare the city's needs for services against what law firms have to offer,” Dressel said.
Dressel recommended the committee forward the RFQ to the common council and asked the committee to select two members to serve on the interview and selection team. Committee members volunteered Mr. Krayon and Natasha Tompkins. A motion to approve the RFQ and the selection process passed by voice vote; the committee recorded the volunteers and will forward the recommendation to council for final approval.
Dressel said the RFQ packet provided examples of when an employment law firm might be used and described the selection process; Dressel and staff will work with the volunteers and return recommendations to council.
