The St. Cloud Planning Commission voted to appoint Member Philip Lantry as chair and Member Russell Alexander as vice chair for the coming year.
The vote followed the commission's standard annual election procedure. Jack Morgason, the commission's attorney, reminded commissioners that nominations would be handled in order and that elections would proceed if more than one nomination was made. Philip Lantry was nominated and seconded; the motion for chair passed unanimously. Russell Alexander was nominated and seconded for vice chair and that motion also passed by voice vote.
The officer elections were procedural and customary ahead of the commission's regular business. The commission confirmed a quorum at the start of the meeting and completed the votes by voice; the chair's election was recorded as passing 5-0. No extended debate or public comment took place on the nominations.
The newly elected officers will preside over the commission's next meeting on March 18, at which the then-chair indicated he will be absent and asked the vice chair to preside.
