Tippecanoe County awards $2.36 million bid for North Ninth Street reconstruction

Stuart, a representative of the county's board of bids, told commissioners the county received two responsive bids and checked them for mathematical correctness and balance. Stuart said Reeth Riley Construction's bid of $2,359,056.54 compared to an engineer's estimate of $3,488,862.35 with an alternate 1 estimate of negative $139,940.
"These 2 bids were checked for mathematical correctness and any unbalancing. None was found," Stuart said. Based on that review, he recommended awarding the work to Reeth Riley Construction.
A commissioner moved to award the bid and a second was recorded; the motion passed on a voice vote. The board did not record individual roll-call votes in the minutes.
County documents on file with the commissioners' office include the bid tabulation, alternates, and the engineer's estimate for the project. The county did not specify a construction schedule, contract start date or funding breakdown during the meeting.
The bid opening was held publicly on Feb. 12 at 10 a.m., the board of bids report said.
