Pine County commissioners approved routine administrative items and received an update from Human Resources about a new employee recognition pilot.
Clerical approvals: The board approved the minutes of the Feb. 4, 2025 meeting and adopted the consent agenda. The approvals were moved and seconded and passed without recorded opposition.
Human resources: Jackie Cuivosto, Human Resources Manager, presented an update on a new “kudos” recognition program born from 2024 strategic planning and work of an employee recognition committee. Cuivosto said the program allows any employee to submit an email recognizing a coworker; each month two names will be drawn and winners will receive a prize funded by an Initiative Foundation seed grant of $1,500. Cuivosto described the prize as up to $50 per monthly winner and said the committee includes employees from multiple county departments.
Personnel committee approvals: The personnel committee presented two items (job description updates and a backfill related to a 31‑year vacancy) and the board approved the recommendations by motion and record of unanimous support.
Ending: Commissioners voiced appreciation for HR improvements including a recruitment dashboard and the new recognition program. No legislative or ordinance changes were approved at the meeting.
