County to transfer $2 million for rural internet expansion to TripleFiber after CloudWise acquisition

Harnett County staff told commissioners on Feb. 17 that the county will sign a transfer agreement to move a $2 million Phase 2 rural‑internet project from CloudWise to TripleFiber, following TripleFiber’s acquisition of CloudWise.
County staff said the Phase 2 funding will be used to install internet access in Little Bick Coats and other rural areas (as described in staff remarks). The county manager reported that TripleFiber will assume the prior contract and that staff expect work to continue on the broadband expansion project.
The county manager also announced other personnel and capital moves during the meeting, including a new Harnett Regional Water director and continued work on a bond sale for Flatwoods Middle School; those items were presented separately by county staff and did not involve additional action on the broadband contract transfer at the meeting.
Commissioners did not take a separate roll‑call vote on the contract transfer during the meeting; county staff said they will sign the necessary documents to effect the assignment to TripleFiber.
