County staff said the City of Dunn asked the county to support additional police and EMS staffing and overtime tied to the July tournament. Staff documented the public‑safety portion of the request at about $37,000; the City of Dunn’s total event expenses include additional items staff said they will review during the budget process.
Commissioner Jaggers moved to add the item to the next fiscal-year budget as a line item and clarified the county would make any contribution to the City of Dunn so the city can allocate the funds among its agencies. The motion, as amended on the record to designate payment to the City of Dunn, was seconded and approved by the board.
County staff said the request could be funded through the ordinary budget cycle rather than drawing from fund balance, because the event is scheduled for July. Staff also noted that hotel‑room revenue tied to the tournament may generate some economic benefit to the county’s tourism and lodging sector.
