Committee reauthorizes interim resources committee for a two-year term

The Senate Resources & Environment Committee voted to send House Concurrent Resolution 3 to the Senate floor with a due-pass recommendation, reauthorizing the interim resources committee for another two-year term.
Representative Britt Ray Bolt of District 34 described the interim committee's role and recent work: topics included chronic wasting disease (CWD) updates from Fish and Game, implementation of a grizzly-bear conflict-reduction policy, and presentations from the Department of Lands on the fire season. "What the committee really allows for is an opportunity for us to identify issues that may need more targeted attention than we can otherwise provide during the legislative session," Ray Bolt said (paraphrased).
A motion to send HCR 3 to the floor was made, seconded and carried with no recorded opposition in committee. Committee members said success for the interim committee would look like early identification of resource issues and preparing policy work ahead of the legislative session.
The resolution now moves to the full Legislature for final consideration.
