Committee approves parking restrictions on North Tenth Street between Franklin and MacIntoe

The Infrastructure and Facilities Committee approved parking restrictions on the east side of North Tenth Street between Franklin Street and MacIntoe Street during its Feb. 13 meeting.

Alder Neal said he brought the request after a constituent reported limited sight lines where drivers turning from Franklin onto North Tenth cannot see southbound traffic until they are nearly in the intersection, creating a hazard when vehicles or buses are parked on the east side of the block. "It's a very valid concern," Alder Neal said.

The committee recorded a motion to adopt the restrictions as listed in agenda item 2; Alder Larson moved and Alder Neal seconded. Committee members voted in favor; the motion passed with no recorded opposition in the meeting transcript.

Committee members noted there are no driveways directly on that block and that parking along the east side of the street north of the block is already restricted. The motion implements the constituent request for the single block identified in the agenda materials.

The committee moved on to other business after the vote. No additional implementation details (exact curb markings, enforcement start date or enforcement plan) were specified during the discussion and will be handled in subsequent staff follow-up.
