The Shelton School Board received a first reading of a revised Policy 32 30, titled “Searches of students and student privacy.” Dusty Trickle, director of student wellness, told the board the draft updates clarify when searches may be necessary, address locker-search procedures, and move operational language into procedures. The revision also addresses legal ages in relation to confidential student information.
Trickle invited questions from the board; Director Becky (on Zoom) acknowledged the extent of redlined changes and said she had read the draft with no questions at that time. The policy was presented for first reading only and will return for a second reading and possible approval at a later meeting.
No formal vote or change to district practice occurred at this meeting; the board will review questions and suggested edits ahead of the second reading, the director said.
