Nevada Assembly refers package of bills to committees during Feb. 13 floor session

CARSON CITY, Nev. — The Nevada Assembly on Feb. 13, 2025, introduced a package of bills and formally referred them to standing committees, moving each by motion and carrying the referrals by voice vote during the floor session.

The actions set which committees will conduct initial consideration and hearings on measures including Medicaid coverage for certain cancer screenings (Assembly Bill 234), revisions to selection processes for education-related state boards and councils (Assembly Bill 236), the proposed Nevada Studio Infrastructure Jobs and Workforce Training Act (Assembly Bill 238), and a proposal to restrict the use of disposable foodware containers containing polystyrene foam by certain food establishments (Assembly Bill 244). Other introduced measures included bills concerning athletics, housing, tax exemptions for surviving spouses of service members, the Sagebrush Ecosystem Council, firearms, offenders, and provisions relating to persons with disabilities.

The fiscal analysis division also announced notices of exemption under joint standing rule 14.6 on Feb. 12 and Feb. 16, 2025, identifying multiple bills as eligible for exemption from a fiscal note requirement; the division did not appear on the floor beyond that announcement.
