Decatur County Emergency Management reported on Feb. 17 that the county must update its multihazard mitigation plan every five years and that the federal/state grant funding will run through the county.
EMA staff said the plan update requires a local match and that when invoicing is routed through the county there can be timing gaps between vendor invoices and state reimbursement. Separately, staff described an annual employee-salary grant administered via the state that provides $30,000 to Decatur County to help cover medical assistant (MA) salaries; the grant requires an authorized signatory and staff confirmed a change in the listed signer.
EMA reported having shared contracts and grant materials with county staff; commissioners approved the contract at the meeting by voice vote. EMA also asked for commissioner representation on a crisis intervention team (CIT) board; the commission appointed Commissioner Brian to fill the slot.
