Board building committee reports outreach for March 4 bond vote; windows and project scope among top questions

Members of the board’s building committee said outreach for the proposed Stratham Memorial School renovation bond is underway and described the public information schedule leading up to the March 4 vote.

Sophie, a committee member, said six outreach presentations were planned and two had been held; turnout has been modest. “The main concern that people have had are about the windows,” she said, and added the committee is prepared to explain how the bond would address priorities and, if funds remain, pursue additional window work as part of the project.

Committee members told the board the presentations include short personal introductions from different subcommittee members to encourage attendance and that the flyers list the presenters by name to increase familiarity with residents. One committee speaker said the presentations have featured community members who worked on prior renovations and who asked detailed technical questions; the committee reported those questions were addressed during meetings.

Administrators reiterated the timeline and the mechanics of the warrant process: the bond is Article 1 on the warrant and, by statute, must be heard first at the annual meeting. Committee leaders said they will prepare slide decks and FAQs for board review and that the committee hopes to have materials to the board by late February so members can review and provide input ahead of March 4. The committee also noted that if the bond is approved, the board will later negotiate the financing term and length of the bond payment schedule.
