Committee staff described SB 890 as extending by five years the period in which the Oregon Sunshine Committee must complete a review of public‑records exemptions. The bill also changes the report recipient and frequency: it designates biennial reports to the Senate committees or interim committees on judiciary in place of annual reports to the public records subcommittee of the legislative council.
Senator Thacher moved SB 890 to the floor with a due‑pass recommendation. The committee then took a roll‑call vote; the motion carried and the committee record shows the motion was transmitted to the floor with Senator Thacher named as carrier.
Committee staff said there was no fiscal or revenue impact reported for the bill and no further committee amendments were recorded in the work session.
